Overview

Physical and verbal abuse is a growing problem in the UK workplace that many employees find difficult to handle. To ensure a workplace conducive to productivity, employees should be provided with the strategies for avoiding risk and dealing with difficult situations that might arise both inside and outside of the office environment.

Regulatory requirements

According to the Management of Health and Safety At Work Regulations 1999, Section 13:

  1. Every employer shall, in entrusting tasks to his employees, take into account their capabilities as regards health and safety.
  2. Every employer shall ensure that his employees are provided with adequate health and safety training -
    1. on their being recruited into the employer's undertaking; and
    2. on their being exposed to new or increased risks because of -
      1. their being transferred or given a change of responsibilities within the employer's undertaking,
      2. the introduction of new work equipment into or a change respecting work equipment already in use within the employer's undertaking,
      3. the introduction of new technology into the employer's undertaking, or
      4. the introduction of a new system of work into or a change respecting a system of work already in use within the employer's undertaking.
  3. The training referred to in paragraph (2) shall -
    1. be repeated periodically where appropriate;
    2. be adapted to take account of any new or changed risks to the health and safety of the employees concerned; and
    3. take place during working hours.

Server and browser requirements

This training program runs over a typical company Intranet or hosted website with minimum specification and do not require plug-ins such as Macromedia Flash, Shockwave or Java.

Server:

  • Microsoft IIS 5 or later
  • Active Server Pages 3.0
  • Microsoft® SQL Server 7/2000/2003 or Microsoft® Access (if training records will be saved to a database)

Browser:
